The Certification Service is a Public Corporation that reports to the Spanish Association of Land, Business and Personal Property Registrars,attachedto the General Directorate of Registries and Notaries of the Ministry of Justice. It was set up as a provider of electronic signature certification services by virtue of the mandate issued by the Legislature in Additional Provision 26 of Law 24/2001 of 27 December 2001, on the Tax, Administrative and Social Order. it was founded for the purpose of providing mechanisms and systems to ensure the safety of electronic communications in which Registrars, Public Administrations and professionals related to Registries and to providing services for citizens in general intervene.
